This weekend the biggest park in the center of Kiev hosted MTB downhill competitions Red Bull Big Duel. It was the second Red Bull Big Duel event in Ukraine. The first one was organized in 2010 in Yalta city. More than 3 thousand spectators came to witness the best riders of the country competing in urban environment. The unique 1100 meters track consisted of more than 350 stairs, narrow pave-stone streets and challenging obstacles – wall rides, kickers, drops. The weather also contributed to the track difficulty - due to the heavy rain before the competitions days it was very slimy and full of leaves. Red Bull Big Duel was held in 2 rounds – qualification and final. 64 riders, aged from 18 to 46, fought for 32 places in final. After intensive semifinals the current Ukrainian MTB Champion Egor Primachek (18 y.o.) and one of the most respectable MTB riders of the country – Valentin Popov (25 y.o) competed for the winner title. “I did my best to win Red Bull Big Duel. The track was very difficult and I had very experienced competitors. I am really happy. We are all waiting for the next Red Bull Big Duel” – mentioned 1st place winner Valentin Popov. We are really proud to hear that Red Bull Big Duel helps to develop and popularize MTB downhill discipline in Ukraine.
